Square Enix has updated the official Japanese site for Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster with a few new short videos detailing battles, Wakka, Rikku and glimpse at one key CG sequence from the game.

They’ve been putting out a lot of spoilers for this game so if you’ve never played it you might want to steer clear. Otherwise, Final Fantasy X|X-2 is due out on December 26th in Japan and next March for western fans.

A new video has surfaced online detailing the Chinese version of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII – the likes of which launched alongside the Japanese version last month.

Rumors have populated the net for some time, but here we have actual proof that Lightning will receiving a second Yuna-themed outfit in the form of her Gunner garb from Final Fantasy X-2 along with Tidus’ Brotherhood sword.

While not officially confirmed by Square Enix, the video evidence we have below it pretty conclusive. If anything, they’ll likely make an announcement and possibly release the garb later this month with the game’s second scheduled DLC outfit – which happens to be nine days shy of Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD’s release date. You can see the outfit in action for yourself below.

Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster will release in Japan on December 26th for both PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, with a western released confirmed for March 2014 on PlayStation 3.

First week sales figures for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII are in – and they’re not pretty.

The game – which became available on November 21st – managed to pull in 277,082 sales on the PlayStation 3 and a place at the top of Japan’s Media Create sales chart which tracked from November 18th to 24th. These results, however, are not favorable when looking at the rest of the XIII series as Lightning Returns has displayed another 50% drop off from the already low launch sales of the previous entry (XIII-2).

For comparison Final Fantasy XIII launched in Japan with 1,501,964 units sold, while XIII-2 did 524,217 units on PS3 two years later at a lower price. Whether Square Enix is happy with these numbers or not remains to be seen, but speculation following launch day was that LR only sold through around 50-60% of its lower initial shipment as well.

Note that these figures do not include digital sales from the PlayStation Network nor the Xbox 360 version as the latter failed to sell enough to make the chart.

Yesterday, SE released 46 new screenshots and rereleased 6 character posters to promote the Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster. The screenshots consist only of Final Fantasy X, its characters, and events. And none for X-2, bye.

Either way, these screencaps will amaze! - (keep in mind, the original images are 1280x720 and have been resized to 600x337 for this post. You can view them in their full sizes at the source linked below, which is highly recommended)

A new trailer showcasing a myriad of Lightning’s new outfits in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been released by Square-Enix.

While this is a mere sampling, Lightning will be able to collect and wear over 80 different outfits that carry special abilities and skills. You’ll be able to bring three different sets into combat and switch between them with a push of a button – similar in style to FFXIII’s Paradigm Shift system.

The game is slated for release on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on February 11 and on February 14 in Europe, with a domestic launch in Japan on November 21, 2013.

A new report from this week’s Jump magazine out of Japan has detailed another bonus coming to Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster in the form of a once PAL version/International version exclusive superboss.

The enemy known as Penance – or Der Richter in the Japanese, French and German versions of the game – will be released once all of the Dark Aeons are defeated in the game. Sporting a massive 12,000,000 HP count as well as high stats and powerful attacks, downing Penance will be no easy feat.

Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD will be on one blu-ray disc for PlayStation 3, but the PlayStation Vita versions will be sold separately when it launches in Japan on December 26th. A North American and European date is still penned in for “this Winter.”

In the gallery below, you'll see Fang and Lightning side by side once again, a new look at different environments, and gameplay captures that reveal a new Escape option in battle (from Nova Crystallis: Also revealed is a new EP-based Ability: Escape, which allows players to exit battle, reconfigure Lightning’s schemata, and challenge the monster again should it prove too difficult.)
